Biography
Working with scavenged plexiglass, steel, plastic, and scrap material, Tom Fruin masters the art of mosaic and scale with grand scale sculpture that blurs the line between art and architecture. Fruin pulls inspiration for these works from his surroundings in New York, and the stunning jewel-like patchwork sculptures he creates reflect his fascination with the radiant energy of the New York City skyline. From quilts stitched of translucent materials, to plexiglass towers lit from the inside, the play of light and colorful materials give Fruin’s work a unique and stunning quality that brighten locations wherever they are installed.
Fruin has installed works in public locations and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, and South America.
