Suzanne Crocker’s paintings intrigue viewers with her vibrant houses set beneath shocking skies of greens, pinks, and offset blues. Her electric landscapes painted atop florescent red washes of paint, radiate with warmth and light. Her subject matter on the contrary, is paired down. Simple geometric structures make up her solitary homes surrounded by color fields of brown, pink or green grasses. Any detail beyond her central subject matter is subtle – such as the faint indications of fences emerging from soft outlines amidst bold blocks of color.  The influence of her studies with Master colorist Wolf Kahn is evidenced by Crocker’s fanciful interpretation of color. Although her houses appear as solitary forms surrounded only by fields and sky- these outrageous colors are anything but quiet.  Luminating from an ellusive light source, the works take on a spiritual atmostphere.
